Manchester United have been linked with many left sided wingers, why ?

As per the media, Manchester United are linked to:

    • 1)David Silva (Valencia)
    • 2)James Milner (Aston Villa)
    • 3)Angel Di Maria (Benfica)
    • 4)Hatem Ben Arfa (Marseille)

Why with all left side wingers?

United needs a player who play on left wing and should able to switch to right as well. That adds different dimensions to attacking as the opposition has to switch the plans suddenly. Remember the days of Ronaldo…did he ever played on only one wing??
Both Nani and Valencia are good on the right wing and very less effective on right. Just look at this season, United always attacked through right wing. That means, we missed an attacking option. This is the reason, we the United are linked to all left wingers available in transfer market.

    Antonio Valencia played well but…

Antonio Valencia is really a good signing last season and he adopted to our playing style and conditions very well. Should appreciate him for all his efforts and contributions he made. He had good pace, nice crosses and can read the game well. Did you ever thought he was brought in as replacement for Ronaldo? I never saw him in that way.

How many times did you saw him playing on the left wing? I feel he is very comfortable playing on the right wing and almost never played on the left. We have Nani who improved a lot this season and unfortunately he was also good and prefer the right wing. So what ? Remember when we have Ronaldo, he used to switch the wings often in the game. We lost that flexibility this season. Those switches will surely make the opposition defense think in the game because the defenders will come against different type of attacking players at different times. Surely need change of opposition tactics to deal with it.

So, i feel Valencia had missed this aspect which reduced our attacking options. Hope, he will work on it and back next season.

Did Manchester United really failed this season?

When the season started, every news paper and most of fans thought Manchester united are not the same team without Ronaldo and Tavez. If you remember those days, they literally excluded us from the title race. The early loss to Burnley gave them some more boost to talk.

Now, at end the end of the season, where are we standing? just one point behind the winners Chelsea. Now isn’t the same media saying United would’ve won the title if they would’ve won one of the 7 matches they lost.

You may still say its a failed season but look at what we have and what we have achieved. Great result and all the credit should go to Sir Alex. As SAF said, one bad week and few bad decisions from referees [is that because of SAF’s early rant on one of the referee?] cost us the title.
