Tottenham 0 – 0 Manchester City | Spurs didn’t took the chances and City’s shape not suited them

    TOT vs MANC

    Man City:

    • MCFC used 3 holding midfielders to have the position and control the game. Every one of the 3 holding players did very good to do the assigned task
    • Tavez played always behind/on the line of Silva and SWP… means there is no proper target man for City.
    • Sliva and SWP didn’t advanced much to attack and with tevez dropping deep, MCFC didn’t created much upfront

    Spurs:

    • due to City’s 3 men holding midfield, Tottenham have to work hard in the midfield as it is 2 vs 3.
    • The Spurs wingers played good part in defending by joining the midfielders to create another 4 men defense line infront of the defense when they didn’t had the position
    • Defoe played behind Crouch and sometime even on par with wingers to assist the midfield battle.
    • Bale and Lennon did good job attacking wise but they didn’t scored on the chances they got.

Don’t know why but both the managers didn’t tried to change the shape of their attacks as they did straight substitutions.

Manchester United season 2010-11 preview | what to expect ?

A new season…new signings and new hope for all the Manchester United fans. What to expect from MUFC this season? can they win BPL? what about champions league ? let’s go through some facts and predictions.

    Signings :

Many United fans are not happy with the signings that United made. When Hernandez and Smallings signings are announced many though, united lacked money to do big signings. Then they went on to see Hernandez at World Cup and show why he was chosen by MUFC. Then in pre-season they saw both Hernandez and Smallings in actions and now the fans know what they have in the kitty. And again United surprised everyone by signing ‘Bebe’. Should we say, United didn’t made any significant signings ? No they are addressing the issues one by one. But still we need to wait and see how they solve their problems in the midfield. Yeah…i know everyone love to see Ozil at Old Trafford but if they fail to secure him then who is the alternative?

    Formation:

We saw United playing more of 4-5-1 last season and 4-4-2 in the league. We can expect United to play same 4-4-2 in the league this season also but we may notice the front two playing like 4-4-1-1. I’m writing 4-4-1-1 because the players united have in the striking department. In the champions league, surely it is 4-5-1[4-2-3-1] because we need solid defense in the UCL. Also after seeing last season, i don’t think SAF will relay too much on Rooney. we can expect the younger players to start in the FA cup, Carling cup etc.

    Expectations – Players

Rooney – I really don’t see him repeating what he did last season. [sorry, me too an United fan but we should be talking the facts]. But he plays important role in the UCL matches. Another challenge is to keep him fit through out the season. Expect him score 20-25 goals this season.

Berbatov – After two season at United, i guess now we all know where he can play better. Surely not as a lone striker but behind the main striker. We saw Hernandez and Berbatov’s combination in the pre-season games and the same can be played with Rooney. This is the reason i opted for 4-4-1-1 for the Premier League. I expect berbatov to score 15+ goals this season because his chances will be limited just like the last season and 7-9 assists.

Owen –  All we need is, he should be fit for the entire season. Not possible ?? He still didn’t lost that goal poaching skill, we saw that last season as well as in the pre-season games. But it will be interesting to see how SAF will use him and for what combination he suites best. If Owen-Rooney/Owen-Berba are playing, Owen should be upfront always and other striker should be supporting him.  So his chances are also limited and may start in FA cup, Carling cup etc..

Hernandez –  Isn’t everyone thinking that he is the answer to the problems in the striking department? Of course, he can be. I don’t see him starting in many games but can be a regular substitute to come at 60-70mins and have some impact. He can score 15goals this season and also i think that’s the target SAF will hand him initially.

Nani – High hopes on this lad. he should give us a better season than the last one. We just saw what he is capable of in the last season and this is the season where he has to step it up. I hope he does well on the left wing this season. Also love to see him on the score sheet more. around 10goals and 10 assists can be expected from him.

Valencia – One players who was bright and consistent through out the last season and he showed the same for in the pre-season games. He will be handed the responsibilities on the right wing in all games. I want him to have more assists like 15+ and score few goals also.

Giggs and Scholes –  Boy! they can still play like they did 10years ago but may not be for 90mins. Hope that the new boys will do the things better so that we can use these two diamonds when we need em.

Oberton – Hope, he will get more games this season. wait…can he play well on the left wing? He has to, to get more starting lineup calls.

Park –  yeah, he will starting in the games where we play 5 men midfield. He did very well last season and expect the same this season. I guess he need to score more goals when he get his changes.

Fletcher – Surely more matured and he knows that he is the heart of the United in the midfield.

Carrick – He should show us what made us to bring him to Old Trafford, this can answer some of our questions in the midfield.

O’shea/ Anderson/ Hargreaves – Not sure whether Hargreaves can this year. Anderson and O’shea ?, changes will be limited  for these guys but they need prove themselves again to get the starting lineup calls.

Defense: I hope we will not have injuries like we have in the last season in this department. It nice to see Vidic getting a new deal. What about Rio? how many games will he play this season? Wants to see Rafael more this season. Do we see Smallings in the senior action?

High Expectations: Nani, Hernandez and Berbatov

    MUFC
